Boy/Girl Bands

Boy bands and girl bands are a specific subgenre of pop. Although all of one gender, each member often sports a different “look” and the marketability of the group is as much about their overall sexuality as about vocal talent and harmony. Songs are often romantic and/or sexually suggestive. Such bands had a golden era in Eurasia (and abroad) in the 1990s and 2000s. In Eurasia, some groups have gained global prominence such as the girl bands T.a.T.u and Via GRA and the boy band O-Zone.
