Love in the Big City 3 (Любовь в большом городе 3) is the 2013 continuation of the Love in the Big City (Любовь в большом городе) series, which started in 2009 and continued with a sequel in 2010.
This film takes place five years after the previous one, and all of the central characters now have young children. The three mothers, the wives of the main characters, all decide to go off on a vacation, leaving the fathers alone with their children. The men find the situation too much for them to handle, and they all wish that their children were grown already—and in the morning they find that their wish has come true. Various adventures ensue (among them, of course, the attempt to turn their children back to the way they were).
After the success of the first two films, it was inevitable that there would be a third. Audiences liked it pretty well and it didn’t get terrible reviews, though they were definitely worse than those of the first two films. Film.ru had some rather devastating remarks, noting that the almost four-year gap between this film and the previous one had not been used to good effect and that neither the director nor the actors had made much of their time off. They didn’t find the film very funny, but, trying to look on the bright side, they said that the film made an interesting moral commentary about the best way to raise kids. The reviewer at RusKino, who generally hates popular Russian films, liked this one better than the other two, which probably serves to confirm that most viewers will feel the opposite. She found that this one dealt with more serious problems, which is exactly why people looking for their romantic-comedy fix may want to pass.
