Sanah is a Polish singer, songwriter, and composer, known for her indie/electronic pop music. Born in Warsaw as Zuzanna Irena Jurczak, she inherited her stage name from her real name – the English version of her name, Susannah, was shortened to Sanah. Music was a large part of her life from a young age – Sanah learned to play the violin at the age of four.
In 2004, at the age of six, she began attending music school at The Complex of State General Secondary Music Schools named for Grażyna Bacewicz in Warsaw. She continued to develop her music skills, and in 2021, Sanah earned her master’s degree in instrumental studies from the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw.
During her musical studies, she auditioned for The Voice of Poland on several occasions, and the British and Polish versions of Got Talent. Although these attempts were relatively unsuccessful, Sanah continued to create music, and in 2014, she began gaining recognition on YouTube under the name of Zuzia Jurczak. Her growing popularity there eventually led to a contract offer with Magic Records. She made her first public appearance on TEDx Talks in 2014.
The following years showed promise, but fairly little success. Sanah took a break from her singing career in 2018, but came back strong in 2019 with her popular single “Idz,” which landed her in first place on the Vevo DSCVR New Music Poland playlist, and earned over 15 million views on YouTube. The following year, Sanah released her most popular song to date – “Szampan” (Champagne – 2020), which now has over 72 million YouTube views. 2020 could be considered her breakout year, as Sanah continued to release popular songs such as “No Sory” and “Bujda,” which earned her a combined 50 million views on Youtube.
In December of 2020, Sanah was announced as the most played artist in Poland on Spotify for the year. Since this acknowledgement, she has continued to release music, including her most recent hit, “Ten Stan” (This State – 2021), which has over 45 million views on YouTube. Today, she continues to make music, and has even brought her talents to TikTok, gaining a respectable following of nearly 300,000.
Sanah is undoubtedly one of the most popular artists in Poland today, and her career is still developing.
