Nursultan Azykbaev (Нурсултан Азыкбаев) is a Kyrgyz pop singer who has extremely recently come to the forefront of the Kyrgyz pop scene. He sings in Kyrgyz, Russian, and English.

Azykbaev, only 21 years old, is currently studying flute performance at the Kyrgyz State Music Academy—he is in his third year.

Azykbaev made waves recently when he represented Kyrgyzstan in the 2016 New Wave competition in Sochi, an international music competition in which young performers from all the world take part. He sang three songs in the three different stages of the competition—”Shape of My Heart” (the Sting version, not the Backstreet Boys one), “My Feelings” (“Чувства мои”), which Arsen and Aibek Zamyrov popularized during their own turn at the New Wave competition, and finally his own composition, “Alas” (“Аттиң ай”). He was judged highly by the panel of expert judges: in the end he came in fifth overall out of 16 at the competition, though based only on the audience vote he came in an impressive third. The contest represented his debut performance as a singer.

Now that he’s made himself known to the Kyrgyz public and other pop singers, he has also started collaborating with others on the scene—he recently recorded a song, “Snowboard” (“Көк бөрү”), with Bayastan and Begish.

A newer effort by Azykbaev: Good Bye (sung in Kyrgyz, titled in English)

Azykbaev’s collaboration with Begish and Bayastan, “Kok boru” (“Көк бөрү”):

Lyrics for “Көк бөрү”:

Azykbaev’s rendition of “My Feelings” (“Чувства мои”):

Lyrics for “Чувства мои”:
